Transportation Connections PDF Print E-mail

Mainline Rail and Interstate Freeway

Quincy boasts an enviable multi-modal transportation network with easy and direct access to major cross country transportation routes - the BNSF rail line and Interstate 90.  Unparalleled connections to major midwest markets (such as Chicago, etc.) and international sea-ports (such as the Port of Seattle and Port of Tacoma) by road and rail offer shippers significant flexibility and speed to market.

The Port of Quincy's rail connection on BNSF's intermodal rail line (see map below) spans the width of the nation and provides some of fastest transit times for perishable goods and other cargo.  For example, goods can shipped on the Rail Logistics' "Cold Train" within 3 to 4 days between Quincy reach Chicago.

Intermodal Terminal

The Port of Quincy Intermodal Terminal is a state-of-the-art rail cargo handling facility on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad mainline which runs from Seattle to Chicago. The Intermodal Terminal includes over 10,000 feet of track and a new container maintenance and cleaning facility, with nearly 1 million square feet of cold storage warehousing in close proximity to provide perishable shippers with distribution, cross-dock and storage capacity in and out of the Washington State.

Additionally, the Port of Quincy Intermodal Terminal is home to the Pacific Northwest-Chicagoland Express "Cold Train" which began operations in Quincy in early 2010.  The Cold Train (http://www.rrlx.com/www.icoldtrain.com/iColdTrain/Home.html) has been highly successful in shipping both inbound and outbound cargo between Quincy and the greater Chicagoland area , and has effectively helped to turn the Port of Quincy Intermodal Terminal into a key distribution hub in central Washington.
